Darwin Martin House - Buffalo, NY
Asbestos Survey | Lead Based Paint | Hazardous Waste | Abatement Design | Lead Remediation Design
As the environmental and civil engineer sub-consultant on the project construction team for this sensitive and highly visible project, Watts was responsible for the evaluation of the site to determine the demolition requirements for three apartment buildings on the Darwin Martin House Campus designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Watts provided pre-demolition asbestos survey, design and asbestos abatement monitoring services for the project. A three phase, two-year building demolition and utility relocation plan was developed to address funding issues, environmental concerns, tenant relocation and time constraints. Watts prepared drawings and specifications for inclusion in the contract documents. Utility work included the staged and/or permanent relocation of natural gas, telephone, cable television, electric power, water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer services. Due to the project’s location in a residential neighborhood, as well as security and preservation concerns, services had to be maintained to adjacent properties and other portions of the campus throughout the two-year construction period.
